Swift has been locked in a feud with Trump since endorsing Kamala Harris for President

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez poked fun at the Taylor Swift-Donald Trump drama at the 2024 Emmy Awards by referencing the Eras Tour’s stars, “childless cat lady” comment from when she endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

She was on stage presenting at the famous and prestigious awards show alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin and made comedy a huge part of their act on Sunday, September 15 but it was Gomez who stole the punchline.

“And let me say,” Gomez said on stage referencing Swift. “What an honor it is to work with two guys who are this far away from being childless cat ladies.

The comment actually originates from JD Vance, Trump’s running mate and would-be vice-president, who went viral for his conspiracy theory accusing the United States of being run by, “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”

His jibe then resurfaced when he was announced as the second half of the Republican ticket with Trump, before Swift referenced it as she declared her endorsement of Harris in an Instagram post following their ABC debate.

“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice,” Swift said on Instagram. “Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered!

“I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story. With love and hope, Taylor Swift. Childless Cat Lady.”

Since then, Trump has began an anti-Swift agenda on his social media networks, even going as far as declaring he hates her via Truth Social, whilst over 300,000 candidates have signed up to vote by following the links the 34-year-old added to her Instagram post.
