P Diddy’s honorary key to Miami Beach is reportedly being revoked in light of the rapper’s sex trafficking charges. The 54-year-old Bad Boy CEO is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York, awaiting trial.
Despite denying all charges, his bail request was denied. A few months ago, Diddy was asked to return his key to New York after a video surfaced showing him abusing ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura.
Now, it seems Miami is following suit. The father of six was awarded an honorary key to Miami Beach in 2015 by then-mayor Philip Levine.
However, following the I’ll Be Missing You star’s arrest, the city wants it back. Miami city officials are reportedly in the final stages of negotiations to rescind the key soon.
The exact date has not been confirmed due to Hurricane Milton, according to TMZ. The storm is expected to hit Florida on Wednesday, which insiders say is causing the delay, reports the Mirror.
Miami Beach has given keys to numerous A-listers, including Diddy’s ex, Jennifer Lopez. In modern times, the Key to the City symbolizes civic recognition and gratitude for individuals whose public service reaches the highest level of achievement.
This news follows Diddy returning the Key to the City to New York City in June after Mayor Eric Adams requested it back in a letter.
In a letter, the mayor requested the revocation of the key to the city previously given to the rapper after a video surfaced showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend in hotel surveillance footage. The mayor expressed his support for survivors of domestic abuse and emphasized that the Key to the City is awarded to exemplary citizens, a criterion which Diddy no longer fulfills.

The hip-hop mogul, also known as Sean Combs, was arrested last month on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. Since his arrest, several other lawsuits have been filed against him, with a hotline set up by attorney Tony Buzbee reportedly receiving 12,000 calls within 24 hours regarding allegations against the star.
In a revealing press conference, the outspoken Texan lawyer stated that people would be “shocked” by those allegedly connected to Diddy and the claims, however, he would not disclose their identities until the allegations had been “corroborated.”
