A serious case of jittery nerves almost kept Blake Shelton’s biggest fan from meeting The Man himself at a Memorial Day concert in New Orleans. But a determined and coordinated effort among her mom and Blake’s production team finally brought the two together for an absolutely sweet moment that the little girl will remember for the rest of her life!“Hi guys! This is the night I get to meet Blake Shelton,”7-year-old Daisy Prescott said in a video before the concert, her hands and arms already fluttering with pent-up excitement. “I’m so excited, my heart is racing. I’m kind of, just kind of a little bit nervous because I’ve never met a singer before and… I don’t know, I’m just scared. And very excited. So wish me good luck!â€Since the age of three, Daisy has battled Juvenile Dermatomyosis, an autoimmune disease in children that causes muscles to weaken. While she and her mom, Kristen, stood in line for the meet-and-greet, they chatted with others and handed out awareness cards about the disease.
But when the mother-daughter pair were told they could go to the front of the line, Daisy “was terrified. She said she couldn’t do it and was freaked out,”her mom wrote in a Facebook post.
When Daisy couldn’t muster up the courage to enter Blake’s dressing room, a producer for the festival thought she could help calm the little girl’s nerves by taking her on a backstage tour and ride around in a golf cart.
Meanwhile, everyone else in line got their chance to meet the star of the show, and the meet-and-greet concluded. Kristen and two concert staff members found Daisy hanging out in the production office with several other people, eating snacks, talking and laughing.
“Daisy told me she could not meet Blake and that I should just go with Amanda,”one of the women involved in arranging the meet-and-greets, Kristen wrote. “But I could tell she was sad.â€
But Blake had already seen the video Daisy had filmed earlier that day, describing how excited and nervous she was about meeting him, had one of her Cure For Daisy cards in hand, and would not be denied. So the sweet superstar came out of his dressing room and set out to find her!
“Her face at first was horrified. Then, sobbing, she RUNS about 3 feet and slams into BS giving him a huuuuuge hug. And he melts!”Kristen wrote.
“He held her, hugged her tight and kissed her head. He bent down and kept on hugging saying, “Sweetie! I didn’t mean to make you cry!
What an amazing experience for this special little girl.
