Sofronio Vasquez’s performance of “A Million Dreams” on The Voice has fans calling him the winner
The Voice season 26 aired the first part of the finale on Monday, December 9, 2024. The top five contestants returned for a closing round of performances before America voted to decide its winner. Among the competing artists was Utica resident, Sofronio Vasquez from Michael Bublé’s team.
The finalists competed in two rounds for a chance at the winner’s title. Each performed a mellow ballad and an upbeat song to impress coaches Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé. America would then vote overnight for their favorite artist based on the acts.
Each contender aimed to outperform the other and present themselves as a strong contender for the winner’s title. One such artist was Sofronio Vasquez, who sang A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman for his second act, captivating the audience and the mentors.

The Voice fans took to X, applauding Sofronio’s rendition of the classic. While many deemed his act one of the best of the night, others hoped Sofronio would win the show.

Of the four, Michael was the only mentor who made it to the final round of the competition with two singers, Shye and Sofronio. Michael hoped his mentees would meet everyone’s expectations, impressing both the mentors and viewers, and increasing his chances of winning the show.

Before Sofronio stepped onto the stage, he wrote a letter dedicated to music in which he reflected on his difficult childhood growing up in the Philippines. Although he resided in Utica working as a dental resident, remembering the time in his home country made him emotional.
Using his personal life to inspire the song, The Voice contestant delivered a powerful rendition of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. The coaches were captivated by how easily he sang the high notes. Sofronio got emotional towards the end of his performance, moving the audience.
Coach Snoop Dogg called his act “big time,” praising his conviction and ability to portray his emotions through the lyrics. Meanwhile, Sofronio’s mentor, Michael, was impressed by his performance and equally emotional to see how far his mentee had come.

For his other performance, earlier in the episode, Sofronio sang Unstoppable by Sia.
