The player was Tavaris, a family man who ran for Port St. Lucie City Council District 3 in 2021.

Tavaris was officially on the ballot that year, as found on both Instagram and Facebook pages dedicated to his campaign.

At the time, Tavaris had written on his FB page, “I am invested in our community and ask for your vote to WORK WITH WILLIAMS toward a better Port Saint Lucie.”

His Facebook also shows a photo of him alongside his wife and two kids.

SHOCKING RESPONSE

During the Big Money episode of WoF, Tavaris shocked viewers with his first answer.

The contestants were immediately presented with a “Phrases” category, and with only five letters on the board, Tavaris hit his buzzer.

“Right in the butt!” he guessed.

His fellow contestants were immediately stunned by the answer as the crowd erupted in laughter.

Pat responded back in a simple tone, “No,” as Tavaris then put his buzzer down in embarrassment.

Player Blake came through with the correct answer, which was, “This is the best!”

“Much better answer,” Tavaris said to Blake as he clapped at her win.

After acknowledging the contestants, Pat joked back to Tavaris, “Tavaris, you’ve already made an impression on us.”

“I apologize, Pat, I was a little excited,” he replied.

Wheel of Fortune host timeline

Premiering in 1975, the beloved game show has had a few different iconic hosts in its nearly 50 seasons.

1975 – 1981 : Chuck Woolery was the original host of Wheel of Fortune until he departed in 1981.

1981 – June 2024: Pat Sajak took over and became a beloved Wheel of Fortune host for over 40 years.

“We’ll figure out a way to handle that tastefully,” Pat said of Tavaris’ answer.

“I have no idea what that’ll be.”

The viral moment was shared on social media, where one viewer said Tavaris had solidified a spot in the “Wheel of Fortune Hall of Fame.”

Pat revealed last year that Season 41 would be his last after hosting the show for four decades.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, 49, will take over his spot in September.

Despite Pat’s departure, his longtime co-host, Vanna White, 67, will continue her job as the letter presenter next season.

Since the announcement, fans of the show have expressed how much they will miss seeing him lead the series.

To gear up for his exit, the show has been sharing some of Pat’s best moments on the series since he began hosting in 1984.

Last week, WoF showed a montage of some of Pat’s funniest one-liners throughout the years.

The video was reshared onto its Instagram page, where one fan commented, “I am so bummed. I’m gonna miss him.”

“The GOAT of game show hosts. You can never be replaced, Pat. You’re on of a kind!!” another said.

“I’m so gonna miss him. It won’t be the same without him,” someone else added.

Others said that Ryan is going to have “big shoes to fill” when he steps into the role later this year.

While Ryan may have the experience, some fans have shown their preference for someone more linked to the show to take over for Pat.

Some had been penning for Pat’s daughter Maggie Sajak, who is the social media correspondent, to take over.

Other viewers were hoping Maggie would replace Vanna and that Vanna would be given the lead hosting role.
