Wheel of Fortune contestant throws sass right back at Pat Sajak in playful moment before icon host’s retirement

A PRECIOUS Wheel of Fortune contestant has one-upped Pat Sajak in the shade department after coming up short on a tricky $100,000 bonus puzzle.

On Wednesday, the sprightly Brooke didn’t let the legendary host get the last word this time.

The Atlanta-born game show contestant could not have been cuter, according to fans.

Kicking off the episode, she revealed she “hasn’t missed an episode” of Wheel of Fortune in four years.

She’s also an “avid reader,” blazing through 100 books a year, both of which clearly paid off.

She won and went to the special bonus round with the night’s highest score of $29,850, choosing “What Are You Doing?” as the category.

She chose an additional “CDHAG” since she had a Wildcard wedge, but the three-word puzzle was daunting.

It read as “_ ST _ NG’ ‘A’ ‘_ _ _DE’ and with that, the 10-second timer began.

Brooke did her very best guessing, ‘Basting a …’ but ultimately drew a blank.

The full puzzle was displayed after the timer ran out, and it was “Posting A Video.”

Pat, 77, sarcastically told her that, in so many words, it was easier to solve once all the letters were up.

He joked, “Afterwards, it’s easy to see.”

However, Brooke threw the shade back at him.

She said, “Of Course!” and tossed up her hands, exclaiming, as if she had just gotten it correct in overtime, “Posting a video, Pat!”

Pat burst out laughing and said, “Let me check with the judges. Was that too late!?” as she gave a thumbs-up.

He added, “Your parents taught you might as well take a chance.”

He opened the prize card, which turned out to be the big $100,000 wedge.

He called it “always disappointing to see,” but he assured her she had a “great night,” adding, “You were terrific!”

‘GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR!’

“Brooke on tonight’s #WheelOfFortune is precious. I wanna be her friend. What you be reading, girl? Lol” one X user wrote.

“WheelofFortune Great sense of humor, Brooke. That was a tough one, honey, but it doesn’t matter. But hey, nice trip, lots of money. Enjoy your very very good. Good luck in the future and much success. Congratulations,” gushed another.

PAT’S WRAPPED FILMING

Meanwhile, Pat has not only set his last day as host but taped his farewell episode, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

He will bid farewell to the masses at the end of Season 41 on Friday, June 7, 2024.

But a rep for Wheel of Fortune exclusively confirmed to The U.S. Sun that Pat has already filmed his last slate of six episodes on April 5, 2024.

This includes his final episode, fittingly titled “Thanks For The Memories,” the show exclusively shared.

That means Pat is done hosting the show and the episodes fans are seeing are airing as he’s already retired.

The episode will be a TV milestone as the host has spun out puzzles and prizes alongside Vanna White, 66, since 1981 and 1982 respectively.

The show did not share if Pat’s farewell episode will be an all-out tribute with memories from over the years or simply business as usually with a goodbye at the end.

Tickets for Pat’s penultimate five episodes were opened to the public at the last minute, while his farewell episode was reportedly not open to the public and was invite only.

Pat announced in spring 2023 that he would be leaving the iconic game show and that Season 41 would be his last.

Shortly after, Ryan Seacrest announced on Instagram that he would replace Pat as the new host in fall 2024.

The show airs weekdays at 7:30 pm ET on ABC, so fans can catch his sendoff on June 7 at that time.
