Astronomer CEO Andy Byron appeared to issue a statement after he was caught in an awkward kiss cam moment at a recent Coldplay concert – but the firm now says it was fake

CEO Andy Byron’s company say a statement from him – after being caught on kiss cam with a woman who was not his wife during a recent Coldplay gig – is fake.

Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin inadvertently outed Andy and HR chief Kristin Cabot at their last concert in Massachusetts. The business mogul was seemingly oblivious to all but the music as he embraced the woman from behind, moving in sync with the band’s live performance.

Yet, as soon as they realised their cuddle was being broadcast on the big screen, they abruptly disentangled themselves, hurriedly trying to duck out of the spotlight. When Chris humorously remarked after spotting them on the big screen, “Oh look at these two. Either they are having an affair or they’re just really shy,” he unwittingly hit the nail on the head.

A statement emerged online yesterday from Byron, but in a new twist his firm Astronomer has claimed it was fake. The firm told TMZ is was “not a real statement”.

The ‘fake’ statement read: “I want to acknowledge the moment that’s been circulating online, and the disappointment it’s caused.

“What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake play-out out on a very public stage. I want to sincerely apologize to my wife, my family, and my team at Astronomer. You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.

“This is not who I want to be or how I want to represent the company I helped build. I’m taking time to reflect, take accountability, and figure out the next steps, personally and professionally. I ask for privacy as I navigate that process.

“I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent. I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else’s life into a spectacle.

“As a friend once sang: ‘Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.”
