Tyson Fury made the shock announcement that he has retired on Monday.
In a video he posted on social media he said: āHi everybody, Iāll make this short and sweet, Iād like to announce my retirement from boxing,ā
āItās been a blast and Iāve loved every single minute of it. Iām going to end with this, Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, Iāll see you on the other side.ā
Fury has suffered back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, but it had been thought that he could finally face Anthony Joshua after years of stumbling blocks being in the way.
Itās not the first time that the Morecambe fighter has announced his retirement though and many in the sport believe he is just using it as a bargaining tool for a future fight.
Former world champion, Tony Bellew, remains unconvinced with Furyās announcement.
He told Casino Utan Spelpaus:
āFirstly, if it is true, I wish him all the best in his retirement.
āTyson is undoubtedly one of the best heavyweights this country has produced and I hope he is happy, as he should be with all he has achievedĀ in boxing.
āThe trouble is that part of me isnāt convinced. He has retired five times previously. It could be just a bargainingĀ tool in negotiations for a fight with AJ. I just donāt know?
āIf it is true (that heās retiring), good luck to him. Heās given us some fantastic nights and deserves all the plaudits due to him.ā
Will we see the āGypsy Kingā in the ring again? Let us know in the comments.
