Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr thrill fans with surprise reunion at a London concert: 'We're going to have some fun'

Beatles fans had the surprise of their life over the weekend, when Sir Paul McCartney brought out his old pal Sir Ringo Starr for a special performance.

Appearing at the Dodger Stadium in the States on Saturday (July 13), Ringo joined Paul to perform ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and ‘Helter Skelter’.

Ringo also tossed his sticks into the audience when the band finished their set, and pretended to reach for Paul’s bass to throw that in, too!

“It’s been a thrill for me,” he said. “And I love you, man.” Paul said: “I love you, man. Peace and love, Ringo.”

“I don’t think I’ll see something more iconic in my entire life,” said one lucky fan. Another simply said: “I LOVE MY LIFE.”

The show was the last night of Paul’s solo American tour that began back in May in New Orleans. “Farewell to you guys,” Paul said. “Farewell to America. Only one thing left to be said: We’ll see you next time.”

The pair have reunited several times over the years, including in February 2017 when Paul stopped by Ringo’s home studio to play bass and sing backup vocals on two tracks for Starr’s Give More Love album.

Their last live appearance together was in 2014, when they recorded a CBS TV special marking the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ landmark first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Ringo turned 79 earlier this year, and was knighted by Prince William in 2018.
