After a multi-season hiatus from The Voice, Adam Levine has returned to the show and recently hinted about an idea he has to get another former coach, Blake Shelton, to come back.
Fans may recall that Shelton was a Voice coach for the first 23 seasons of NBC’s reality television singing contest, while Levine was on at the same time as the country singer, for 16 seasons.
The two had a fun rivalry during their time together, so what could the Maroon lead singer do to entice Shelton back?
Adam Levine May Need Some Help From “Stupid”
The Voice’s Season 27 is underway, and the coaches are all gathering their teams for blind auditions. Levine recently added country singer Trevon Dawson to his roster. As he’s not an expert in this genre, he recently teased during an episode that he may need some help.
Levine joked that he’s going to call his friend, Blake Shelton, and say, “Hey stupid. Help me.”
Most country singers who participate in The Voice would join Blake’s team while he was on the show. The last few seasons have seen another country legend – Reba McEntire – join the show, and she would coach them.
This season, country singer Kelsea Ballerini is the newest coach, alongside Levine, John Legend, and Michael Buble. Still, as all the coaches are competing against each other, there’s no way Ballerini would help Levine. This is where Shelton could save the day!
Team Adam Is Strong
While Adam isn’t a pro at country music, he is very excited about working with Trevon, stating he’s, “… the perfect person to round out Team Adam.”
Levine added, “He has one of these young country voices that I hear a lot. You listen to the guys that are killing it right now in country music and I think he can do it. I can’t wait to coach country.”
While many fans miss seeing Shelton on The Voice, it appears as if Adam was being lighthearted about getting him to return to the show to help him out. Still, if Levine can return, maybe Shelton can, too … someday
