Before her days as a Coach on The Voice, Kelly Clarkson did America proud when she absolutely nailed singing the national anthem during the 2012 Super Bowl.
Although “The Star Spangled Banner” is a notoriously difficult song to sing, her voice scaled through the complicated notes perfectly. She hit the climax of the song with ease and wrapped everything up with a passionate belt.
Kelly Clarkson on moving her talk show from Los Angeles to New York City
As for Clarkson’s recent endeavors, she is currently living her best life in The Big Apple. Season 5 of The Kelly Clarkson Show is being filmed in New York City, after moving in 2023 from its origin home of Los Angeles. Better yet, tapings take place in the historic 30 Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, where NBC shows such as Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Late Night With Seth Meyers, are also filmed.
In an interview with USA Today, she talked about the reasoning behind her choice to move the show across the country.
“I knew I needed a fresh start and couldn’t be in L.A. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you can’t really do a show from there quite yet,” she told the outlet. “So I was like, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.’”
She continued, “We’re definitely going to be on the streets and doing different things that we weren’t capable of in L.A. because it’s so spread out. People that watch daytime television want to laugh and cry at a beautiful performance. They want to be inspired.”
When Clarkson was a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers in 2023, she shared a sweet anecdote about how her two children, 9-year-old River and 7-year-old Remington, are embracing the city, as well.
“The thing they just got excited about, they’ve been to a show before, but not since we’ve lived here. And it was a long time ago. So they saw Lion King the other night. And then I saw Lion King three times yesterday because they re-enacted the entire thing,” Clarkson told Meyers with a giggle. “[The city] keeps you busy. There’s so many things to do all the time.”
