Loretta Lynn, Kid Rock
Did Loretta Lynn and Kid Rock get married over the weekend? Not really.
Lynn, 88, stirred up quite the buzz on social media on Sunday when she shared that she and Kid Rock, 49, “had some fun” with an impromptu wedding. In her social media post, which has thousands of likes and comments, the iconic entertainer revealed that her son and daughter-in-law renewed their vows and that she and Kid Rock took advantage of the opportunity to do something they’ve always joked around about.
“What a weekend! My Ernie & Crystal renewed their vows this weekend. It was beautiful and everything it should be. Marriage isn’t always easy–heck it’s not even always pretty, but love holds you together and you push through the bad days to enjoy the good ones. I’m so proud of them and wish them years of happiness,” she began. “Things got crazy then–my boy @kidrock was there and we’ve always teased about getting ourselves married. Well, the preacher was already there so we had some fun with it. Sorry girls, he’s taken now!”
She tagged her post with the hashtags: #gottahavesomefun #88andfeelinggreat #laugh #tabloidfodder #cougar.
It was clearly a joke, but it sure got fans talking!
Lynn’s granddaughter, Tayla, also recalled the memorable moment on Instagram, explaining that Lynn and Kid Rock played along when the preacher told them he was ready to do their vows.
“Memaw and Kid both become giddy. Like school kids. They were so caught off guard but both so happy,” she said.
Loretta Lynn and Kid Rock have been close friends for years. According to Tayla’s post, “they adore each other” and often joke about “getting married and saying to heck with the rest of em.”
Update: Loretta Lynn issued a statement confirming that their “wedding” was in fact a “joke.”
