Mike Tyson Names The Current KO Artist Who Has What It Takes To Become ‘Boxing Legend’

Despite Controversial Past With Floyd Mayweather, 50 Cent Lauds Gervonta Davis While Drawing Comparison With Mike Tyson - EssentiallySports

Mike Tyson‘s name is synonymous with the sport of boxing.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ still holds the record as the heavyweight division’s youngest ever champion, beating Trevor Berbick for the belt in his 28th fight at just 20-years-old.

Tyson’s undefeated streak would continue for another ten bouts before a shock loss to James ‘Buster’ Douglas in 1990. Two years later, he was jailed and missed out on the prime years of his campaign, though did hold some of the same ferocity when he returned to the ring.

With 44 knockouts from 50 wins and just nine losses all in, as well as a fearsome aura that fighters attempt to emulate to this day, ‘Iron’ Mike’s legacy in the sport is unquestioned.

Asked by TMZ about a current knockout artist, Gervonta Davis, Tyson says he has the ability to do the same should he keep active.

“Tank is a great fighter. He’ll be a legend too if he keeps fighting.” ‘Tank’ Davis is 30-0-1 with 28 knockouts and for a long time looked unbeatable due to his fight-ending power. He was, however, pushed to his limit by Lamont Roach Jr last time out, scoring a draw that many felt should have gone the way of Roach, particularly due to ‘Tank’ taking a knee in the ninth round and it not being scored a knockdown.

With that immediate rematch now on the horizon, Davis will hope to stamp his authority this time around to add to his undefeated record. Should he do so, a unification fight with fellow lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson is the most intriguing match-up for him.

Tyson’s caveat of activity may be the deciding factor on ‘Tank’s Hall of Fame chances, though, as he has said on numerous occasions that he intends to retire sooner rather than later.

Bizarrely, the two big punchers may one day have an opponent in common in Jake Paul, who controversially beat Tyson in an ill-advised return to the ring last year and has been in talks with ‘Tank’ since.
