“The biggest problem with those who face Floyd is not his skills, but fear. They fear him just because of the name Floyd Mayweather Jr.” – Maidana said. “But to me, he was just a normal guy: small, fragile, and tough. I dominated him in that fight.”

Maidana also emphasized that, in addition to his commendable defense and speed, Mayweather does not possess the power or offensive fighting style that people think. “He was more of a sprinter than a boxer. His game was to run, score, and run again. But I didn’t let him off the hook.”

In their first fight in 2014, Maidana pressed hard with his aggressive style, constantly pinning Mayweather against the ropes and unleashing a barrage of powerful punches. “I could feel Floyd’s desperation in the fight. I could see the fear when he felt the pressure I was putting on him. If it weren’t for my good defense and the speed of my evasion, I would have knocked him out early.”

Although Mayweather eventually won by decision, Maidana insisted the fight was a moral victory. “I won that fight, and everyone knows that. But his intelligence has kept him undefeated.”
