Nicole Kidman reveals the secret to keeping the spark alive with Keith Urban after nearly 20 years: “Surprise me, baby!”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are a couple that still knows how to keep the spark alive, even as they approach their 20th anniversary in 2025. Despite their busy lives, they’ve managed to create a strong and enduring bond.

The Babygirl singer shared that one of their secrets to a happy marriage is keeping their dates simple and classic. “I love being asked out, and he still does that,” Nicole told People. She revealed that just a week prior, they enjoyed a date night, emphasizing how these moments remain a regular part of their relationship despite their hectic schedules.

In an Instagram clip shared by the Grand Ole Opry, Nicole and Keith were seen sharing a sweet kiss on stage in November 2024. Nicole recalled a recent dinner date they had in New York, saying, “We love Japanese food, but I’m open to anything. I enjoy not knowing where he’s taking me—surprise me, baby!”

Even with their busy careers and raising two daughters, Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 13, the couple always makes time for one another. Their family splits their time between Nashville, Tennessee, and Sydney, Australia, and while they’re accustomed to being apart for work, they ensure that one of them is always home with the kids.

Keith and Nicole’s commitment to each other is evident in their actions. Keith once flew all the way from the U.S. to Sydney to be with Nicole for just five hours during her pregnancy. He shared the story, saying, “I was on tour in the States, but when Nicole had an ultrasound, I hopped on a plane and flew to Sydney. I landed at 9 p.m., we had the ultrasound, had lunch, and I was back on a flight to the States at 2 p.m.”

Nicole also expressed her willingness to travel for her family, saying, “I don’t mind flying, which many people do. My kids love to travel too—although they’re less keen now that they’re older. But they’ve always had a curiosity about the world.”

She shared that her daughters have collected so many passport stamps over the years that they likely have more than most people do by the time they’re 80. “When they were little, we lived in Morocco, traveled through the Algerian Desert, and spent three and a half months riding camels and exploring souks,” she added. “They’ve lived all over the world—in France, Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and more.”
