Susan Boyle’s Emotional Interpretation of ‘O Holy Night’ Warms Hearts This Holiday Season

This song will give you goosebumps and put you in the holiday spirit at the same time.

Susan Boyle, the Scottish singer whose powerful voice was discovered when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, performed a rendition of the Christmas classic “O Holy Night” on Larry King Live over a decade ago. And her rendition is gorgeous.

In this clip from 2010, Boyle performs a simple, traditional but still stunning arrangement of the much-loved song. After watching, you can immediately understand why her 2010 album, The Gift (a collection of Christmas songs), has been certified platinum across the globe.

About “O Holy Night”

Because of its soaring melody, “O Holy Night” is a popular choice for classically-trained singers and has been covered by Celine Dion, Josh Groban, and Mariah Carey. The song recounts the night of Jesus’ birth as a sacred and world-changing event. Originally a French poem set to music, the English lyrics were penned by John Dwight in 1855. Sing along, if you have the lung stamina.
