Under the sparkling lights of the towering Rockefeller Christmas tree, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood stepped into the spotlight, ready to deliver a holiday moment for the ages. As the first notes of the classic carol filled the air, their voices blended in perfect harmony, creating a warmth that seemed to wrap around the entire crowd. Families huddled together, strangers swayed in unison, and for a few magical minutes, the hustle and bustle of the city faded away. The chemistry between the country power couple lit up the stage, leaving the audience mesmerized and proving once again why they’re the heart of every holiday celebration.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are one of country music’s most successful couples. However, they don’t perform together nearly as often as fans would like. In fact, some regard seeing the pair of hitmaking spouses performing together as a rare treat. Those fans likely felt like they had received a wonderful Christmas gift when Yearwood and Brooks took the stage together for a holiday classic in 2016.

That year, Brooks and Yearwood were part of the lineup at the Christmas in Rockefeller Center special. They took the stage to perform the holiday classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” during the annual broadcast. Watch the sweet performance below.

Yearwood and Brooks performing this song is fitting. Frank Loesser wrote “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” in 1944 to sing with his wife Lynn Garland. They sang the song at their housewarming party to let guests know it was time to leave. Interestingly, the song is a holiday standard but it doesn’t mention Christmas at all. Instead, its cozy setting juxtaposed against the biting cold outside made it part of the holiday canon.

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Celebrated Christmas Early This Year

Like many families across the United States, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and their children start celebrating Christmas as soon as Thanksgiving ends. Usually, they trim the tree and decorate the house the day after Thanksgiving. This year, though, they started early.

Brooks will be in Las Vegas finishing his residency later this month. As a result, he’ll be away from his family for a large portion of the season. Brooks told Jimmy Kimmel about how they’re celebrating Christmas this year a few days before Thanksgiving.

“We’re there the first three weekends of December in Vegas. So, we’re up to like two or three days before Christmas Eve. So, Miss Yearwood said, ‘We’re starting Christmas NOW!’ and that was about three weeks ago,” Brooks explained. “She drug the Christmas tree out of the basement, it’s already up. We’re ready to go. We’ve got Christmas music going,” he added.

That means Brooks and Yearwood’s adult children are celebrating the holiday early as well. “We always decorate with the three girls because we’ve done that since we’ve known each other,” he explained. “So, the three girls have three bells and that’s the first thing that has to go on the tree. That means it’s Christmas and that means it’s time to love one another, drop all this silly sh*t, and just have some fun together,” he added.
