“What a dream!!!! Another bucket list item checked off!!!!,” Wilson shared.
Anne Wilson shares the moment she got the last-minute call from Jelly Roll to join him on stage during his set at Faster Horses on Friday, July 19, and the comment of approval she earned from another country megastar as a result.
Earlier in the day, the contemporary Christian singer had been belting out her tender tunes on the Next From Nashville Stage and the next thing she knew, she was getting ready to sing in front of a massive crowd of concert goers on the main stage.
In the video shared to social media, Wilson was seen getting the call and then rushing back to her bus to change out of her sweats and get back into full glam. As she was walking, she appeared to be filled with excitement and also mesmerized by the fact that she admitted to having a dream about this exact scenario.
“When Jelly Roll asks you last minute to sing with him and you say YES!!!!!🥹🤍,” she wrote.”
Wilson was tasked with joining Jelly Roll on stage to help sing Lainey Wilson’s parts on the chart-topping duet, “Save Me.” The crowd erupted in a fit of cheers as she made her surprise appearance.
“Lainey Wilson could not be here tonight, but I would like to welcome to the stage one of the greatest people I’ve ever met and her name is Miss Anne Wilson. I am honored to sing with you,” Jelly Roll said in his introduction before motioning for her to lead the way and start off the first verse of the track.
She channeled the “Heart Like A Truck” singer by wearing brown bell bottoms and then proceeded to deliver exceptionally powerful vocals while belting out the soul-stirring tune alongside Jelly Roll. They then united in a string of stunning harmonies on the chorus, thus filling the stage with talent. Sparks rained down from above as they finished out the song and shared a warm hug on stage and waved to the crowd.
The crowd can be heard offering applause and screams of approval for an incredible surprise appearance. Although she could not be present, the Louisiana native made it known in the comment section that she too was in awe of the rising female star’s performance.
In the comment section of Anne Wilson’s video, she wrote, “My Wilson girl. Love you. Keep on shining that LIGHT like you do.”
In addition to tapping Anne Wilson for “Save Me,” he also asked his friend Cody Johnson to join him in delivering a surprise duet of “Son of a Sinner” as well as their collaborative track, “Whiskey Bent,” which appears on the Texas native’s 2023 album, Leather. Much like Wilson, Johnson also admitted that the genre-bending star invited him to come out just five minutes before taking the stage.
It’s safe to say that Jelly Roll closed out night one of the Brooklyn, MI festival in an epic way. Anne Wilson revealed in another social post that getting to perform this last-minute set was a “dream” and that checked off another item on her bucket list.
Jelly Roll is currently getting ready to launch his Beautifully Broken tour on August 27, while Anne Wilson is simultaneously preparing for her own upcoming fall run dubbed the REBEL tour.
