At Gillette Stadium, country singer Megan Moroney delivered a side-splitting surprise to Kenny Chesney, pulling off a clever tractor prank that left the audience in stitches. Known for her playful spirit, Moroney took to the stage and enlisted the help of a giant toy tractor, catching Chesney completely off guard during his set.

Moroney wrapped up her summer tour with Chesney in style, surprising him on stage by dressing up as him and riding a tiny John Deere tractor.

Megan Moroney capped off her summer on Kenny Chesney’s Sun Goes Down Tour 2024 with a memorable three-night stand at Gillette Stadium opening up for the country superstar.

Epic End Of Tour Prank

The reigning ACM New Female Artist of the Year ended her time on the road with Chesney in style by surprising her summer tour mate—dressing up as him and riding a tiny John Deere tractor as she returned to the stage to perform “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” during his headlining set.

In videos captured by fans, Moroney can be seen sporting a cowboy hat, cut-off shirt, jeans, and cowboy boots while riding a miniature John Deere tractor onto the stage. The tiny kids toy was even customized with a No Shoes Nation license plate and NSN flag in honor of the occasion.

At first sight of Moroney riding onto the stage, Chesney could be heard shouting “Oh my God” as he began to laugh.

They finished out the song together, making for quite a tour wrap-up.

The morning after Moroney’s tractor antics, Chesney shared a gallery of photos on Instagram photos, and wrote, “First night in Foxboro was full of energy, love, fun, and surprises. @megmoroney came out on stage dressed as me and driving a toy tractor. God, we are going to miss her and her energy.”

Getting Into Character

Moroney gave fans a glimpse into her time getting into character on TikTok, where she perfectly mimicked his on-stage moves.

The comments section was filled with users praising her portrayal of the “Just To Say We Did” singer.

“This might be Kenny Chesney,” one user wrote. Another shared, Wait Kenny is that you?!?!”

Throughout the weekend, Chesney surprised the rising star by giving her the opportunity to perform her brand new single, “Am I Okay?” during his headlining set. Moroney seemed genuinely shocked when his band kicked off the tune on Friday night.

“Am I Okay” was written by Moroney with Luke Laird and Jessie Jo Dillon and serves as the title track off her latest record.

On the final night of the tour, Moroney and her crew sported “Best Summer Ever” tee shirts in honor of bidding farewell to her time with Chesney. On the back, the shirts read, “We <3 Kenny.”

Chesney Praises Moroney

Of his time on the road with Megan Moroney, Chesney commented, “Watching Megan really come into her power this summer has been one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. She is a triple threat writer/singer/performer – and she’s found the space she wants to work from. Mark my words: she’s here for the duration.”

These performances were Chesney’s 22nd, 23rd, and 24th shows at the New England Patriots’ stadium since 2005. This weekend, 183,224 fans were in attendance to witness the shows, marking a historic closing weekend for the tour.

Moroney To Embark On Tour Of U.K. and Europe

Next up, Chesney will enjoy some well-deserved downtime, while Moroney will continue touring in full force.

Tonight, she’s set to headline the New York State Fair before taking her live show overseas for her headlining Georiga Girl Tour across the U.K. and Europe. These upcoming tour dates are in support of her recently released album, Am I Okay? . The project was released on July 12 and debuted at No. 9 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. It also soared to No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, making it the fifth-biggest country debut of 2024 and the third-biggest debut of the year from a female country artist, following Beyoncé and Kacey Musgraves.

Produced by Kristian Bush, Am I Okay? doubles down on Moroney’s signature “emo cowgirl” sound and lyricism. The album includes 14 expertly crafted tracks, all written or co-written by Moroney.

Each song draws inspiration from the singer’s life and experiences, from the heartbreak anthem “29th of June,” to the celebratory “Indifferent,” to the introspective album closer, “Hell of a Show.”

“I’ve been saying it feels like a continuation of LUCKY almost, because they’re so close together. Initially, I told my label, ’I’ll give you all another album, maybe 2025.’ And then I just started writing, not putting any pressure on a second album because I know there’s always a lot of pressure with your sophomore album. And then it got to a point where I was like, ‘Wait, I have an album,’” the Georgia native previously explained.
