Canelo expected to face winner of Eubank Jr. vs Benn to finish off three-fight plan

Benn and Eubank Jr face off

FINALLY, the cross-generational trilogy showdown between Chris Eubank Jr, 34-3 (25 KOs), and Conor Benn, 23-0 (14 KOs), has been agreed; a bout rich in history where pride and legacy are at stake.

Yet, despite the motivation that comes with the continuation of one of Britain’s most fierce rivalries, Turki Al-Alshikh has now provided an additional incentive for both men, revealing plans for the victor to collide with unified super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, 62-2-2 (39 KOs), in what would assumably be an extremely lucrative showdown.

Eubank Jr. and Benn have been linked to one another throughout their professional careers, irrespective of the obvious issue of their weight differentials, Benn traditionally campaigning two divisions below the former middleweight world title challenger.

However, Benn has continuously declared his willingness to pile on the pounds and move up in weight to ensure he gets his chance at avenging his father’s shortcomings against the Eubank family, with many fans believing that Nigel Benn did enough to level the scores in his rematch with Chris Eubank Sr. back in 1993, that was scored as a split-draw.

Now it seems as though the Benn name could eventually take the lead in the Eubank-Benn rivalry, as Saudi boxing powerhouse Turki Al-Alshikh told Sky Sports of the likelihood that Eubank Jr. and Benn will fight each other on two occasions, just as their fathers did.

“Yeah, we have in our contract rematch options,” said His Excellency.

“And yes, why not? But we are now focusing on the first fight. Let’s see what happens, and I think it will be something amazing, never happened before.”

In addition, Al-Alshikh went on to declare his vision of staging a clash between the winner of Eubank-Benn and Mexican pound-for-pound sensation, Canelo Alvarez, finishing off what would be a three-fight plan for the winner of the Eubank-Benn duology.

“Whoever is the winner, we are working in the future to have him fight against Canelo. If Eubank wins, he will have the chance to do Canelo at the beginning of 2026,” Turki added.

As for Alvarez, the 168lb poster boy seems to be kickstarting a four-fight plan of his own with Al-Alshikh, first taking on William Scull in May in a bid for the undisputed title before a widely-reported dust-up with Terence Crawford in September.

Canelo is expected to fight for a third time in nine months in a rumoured February 2026 card in Riyadh. All signs for that event point towards either Eubank or Benn as the challenger.
