Clarkson is a massive fan of Wilson’s, and vice versa.
Kelly Clarkson joined forces with country star, Lainey Wilson, for an exciting rendition of the singer’s new song ”Country’s Cool Again.”
During the March 5 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Wilson started off by singing to the swanky honky-tonk groove before Clarkson joined in on the chorus, showing off her country range.
”It’s an honor to sing with you. I’m so stoked for your whole career. I’m just such a big fan. She’s so rad,” Clarkson said to Wilson after their performance.
During the two’s chat, Wilson talked about how Dolly Parton is one of her biggest inspirations, in addition to her upcoming Country’s Cool Again tour. Wilson also complimented Clarkson’s Kellyoke of her song ”Heart Like a Truck,” noting how she manages to make every cover her own.
Then, TODAY host Hoda Kotb hosted a game of country music trivia called ”Hoda my Beer” where Lainey and Clarkson competed again each other.

During Wilson’s interview, she explained her inspiration behind writing the new single.
”Country music, where I’m from, it’s more than just a genre, it’s a way of life. And it’s so cool to see that Western way of life becoming cool. I think a lot of it had to do with the pandemic. I think a lot of people realized they wanted to feel grounded, they wanted to feel at home, and I think country music makes you feel at home,” she told Clarkson.
”And of course, the country genre in general right now, it’s firing off, it’s the coolest thing to watch, and I’m proud to be a part of it. Nobody looks alike, nobody sounds alike, everybody’s got a different story, everybody comes from different walks of life. I’m really proud to be a part of this generation of country music,” she added.
