Like Brad Paisley said; “two of the best we’ve got.”
Back in 2016, George Strait and Alan Jackson teamed up for a joint performance of their iconic hits, “Remember When” and “Troubadour” at the 50th annual CMA Awards.
While the CMA’s (and just about every award show, to be honest) have seen their credibility diminish, (as well as their ratings), over the last few years, there’s still been a handful of moments to celebrate, and this is definitely one of them
Alan wrote Remember When as a tribute to his wife, and released the track back in October of 2003 as the second and final single from his compilation album, Greatest Hits Volume II. It ended up spending two weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Alan posted a video to social media reflecting on the fan favorite:
Troubadour was written by Leslie Satcher and Monty Holmes and released by the King in 2008 as the second single from his album of the same name.
It became his 79th Top Ten on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart and was also nominated for Best Male Country Vocal Performance at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
The CMA’s were still hosted by Brad and Carrie that year, two of the best to ever do it. Which is fitting, considering they introduced the King and the GOAT.
