Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have continued their long-running ‘feud’ this festive season as the Wolverine star put up a cardboard cutout of his friend.

Standing in front of the Christmas tree at his swanky penthouse in New York’s Chelsea district on Saturday, the 54-year-old actor trolled the Hollywood hunk.

In a video posted to Instagram, Jackman was seen gesturing to the visage of Reynolds and pretending the Deadpool star, 46, had broken into his home.

‘How did he get in here? What the hell?! This is my home,’ Jackman said as he jerked a thumb at the cutout of Reynolds dressed in a Santa Clause suit.

In a moment of well-timed humour, police sirens could be heard on the street below as a filter on the camera flashed Santa Clause hats over their heads and zoomed in on the image of Reynolds tucked behind the Christmas tree.

The award-winning actor  shared the video to his Instagram page, writing in the caption: ‘The lost video, found. Also, see Spirited.’

The last was a reference to Reynolds’ new Christmas movie in which he stars alongside comedic actor Will Ferrell.

It is a modern retelling of Charles Dicken’s 1843 novella A Christmas Carol and a satire of the various adaptations since.

Their hilarious rivalry began around the time Reynolds starred in 2016 Marvel film, Deadpool.

Jackman said he struggled to remember the specifics, but it did start over Reynold’s ex-wife, Scarlett Johansson, who he was married to from 2008 until 2011.

‘It’s gone back so long now… God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone too long, where you don’t even know why or how it started!’ he told Daily Beast.

‘I met him back on Wolverine, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett.

‘Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, “Hey, you better be on your best behaviour here, pal, because I’m watching”, and we started ribbing each other that way.’

He claimed Reynolds had used social media to ‘manipulate’ him in recent years, with the two men regularly poking fun at each other on Instagram.

In 2021, Jackman revealed that he has no plans to stop trolling the fellow actor.

He said pranking Ryan is one of his great joys in life – and the Wolverine star fancies himself rather good at it.

‘There’s no doubt it’s a lot of fun because let’s face it, it’s one of the great – it should be an Olympic sport – trolling Ryan Reynolds,’ Jackman said.

‘I’m pretty sure I’ll be out there for the gold, but I think everyone would enjoy the sport. I think every kid should do it.’
