‘The Voice USA’ Champion Sofronio Vasquez Returns to the Philippines for a Grand Homecoming on ‘It’s Showtime’

“The Voice USA” champion Sofronio Vasquez is back home in the Philippines and had a grand homecoming segment on the popular noontime show, “It’s Showtime.”

In the Monday episode, Sofronio kicked off the program with a series of songs, joined by fellow “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” alums and judges, including Nyoy Volante, Darren Espanto, and Yeng Constantino, among others.

For his finale, Sofronio delivered an emotional performance of “A Million Dreams,” the song he performed during the finals of “The Voice USA,” which ultimately led to his victory.

The Filipino singer shared that it was “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” and “It’s Showtime” that first gave him a platform to pursue his singing career.

“I was reminiscing. Every time I auditioned for competitions, it was ‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan’ that first noticed me,” he said, his eyes welling with tears.

Vice Ganda then referred to Sofronio as the pride of “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.”

“My dreams didn’t stop after the competition (‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan’),” he said. “‘It’s Showtime’ itself gave me the opportunity to work as a vocal coach.”

Sofronio also took the time to express his gratitude to his “The Voice USA” coach, Michael Bublé.

“I just want to thank coach Michael Bublé. I know he’s watching, thank you for being a Filipino,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sofronio, who made history as the first Filipino and Asian to win “The Voice USA,” is preparing for his first solo concert in Cebu on January 18.’
