At the Women in Film event, Selena Gomez directly addressed the criticisms of the audience. In it, the actress expressed outrage at being accused of playing the victim.

“I really believe that being vulnerable and telling people that you need help is strength. There’s no shame in that,” the 1992-born star shared. “So yes, I shared that I can’t get pregnant, I shared that I have bipolar disorder. Go away because that’s my life, that’s who I am.”

Speaking further about why she shared her struggles and pain, the former Disney star said it was her way of showing support for women. “I don’t have everything but I am me and that’s all I can be. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person, ignore everyone who says you’re a victim,” Selena continued.

Over the years, the Lose You To Love Me singer has repeatedly shared about her health and mental health problems. In 2013, the actress was diagnosed with lupus, and in 2017, she underwent a kidney transplant. A year later, the star was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Most recently, Selena Gomez broke down and revealed that she was unable to conceive.
