James Hetfield’s son, Castor, feel annoying being compared to dad

In case you were unaware, Castor Hetfield, the son of James Hetfield, plays in the metal band Bastardane. They are compared to each other like every other rock star’s kid, and he finds it “a little annoying.”

Apart from Hetfield on percussion, Bastardane is composed of guitarist Ethan Sirotzki and bassist and singer Jake Dallas. Tomorrow night (April 30) the Savannah-based trio will play as the opening act for a punk band named The Manarovs in their city. Prior to the event, Hetfield discussed the goals of the group and their sound with Savannah Now.

Hetfield said, “We all grew up listening to different kinds of music and in different places, so we have our own voices, which is cool and they come together in an interesting way.” “We’ve even been attempting to identify the genre of our music, but it’s challenging. Hetfield listed a number of bands, including Corrosion of Conformity, Opeth, Tool, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, that have affected the members of Bastardane.

The significant one not mentioned? Metallica.

Hetfield said, “All of us are our father’s sons; mine just so happens to be very successful in the industry that we’re in.” “People trying to compare us anger us a little bit, but it’s not troublesome because we’re clearly our own people and he’s his own person. We are creating original songs.”

In a few weeks, Bastardane will go on a cross-country tour, beginning on May 13 with a performance in Atlanta, Georgia. Towards the end of the month, they’ll play the BottleRock festival in Napa, where Metallica will also be performing. After that, they’ll play a few shows throughout California.
