Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Shares Opinion on Metallica’s James Hetfield, Explains Why He’s a ‘Rock God’
Well, that was not much of a surprising choice, was it?
James Hetfield makes it incredibly difficult not to be his fan. Yeah, yeah, you’ll immediately jump right into the comment section to complain about us at UG being obsessed with Metallica.
But everyone loves Metallica, especially those who boast about not loving them. And you can’t deny James’ playing, singing, and songwriting skills.
And another fellow musician to recently pay respects to James Hetfield was Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger.
Although the “usual suspect” of poserism and selloutdom in metal has gotten a lot of negative reactions over the years, his musicianship is nothing short of stellar.
And, besides, it has been revealed that the hate is actually due to one huge misunderstanding and we are, finally, allowed — both legally and legitimately — to take his opinions seriously.
In a recent appearance on The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker, Chad Kroeger was asked to pick his rock god.
He picked Metallica’s James Hetfield and explained (via Blabbermouth):
“I mean, have you seen Metallica play? There’s something about James live that just makes me wanna grit my teeth and scream along.
“I was lucky enough to be sidestage and see them play in Paris in front of 70 thousand people and then get a chance to go back and hang out with James afterwards. And he’s not only talented — amazing singer, songwriter, guitar player — but he’s also one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. So, that’s gotta be my choice.”
