Snoop Dogg and Diddy were on different sides of the East Coast versus West Coast rap rivalry in the Nineties.
But their sons will show a united front as Snoop’s son Cordell Broadus announced on Wednesday that he is committing to attend UCLA next year as Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, happens to be a redshirt sophomore there.
The 17-year-old star wide receiver was one of many high school prospects to declare what University they’re going to during National Signing Day.
Dynamic duo: Once at different ends of one of rap’s biggest rivalries, Diddy and Snoop Dogg’s sons will team-up to play for UCLA’s football team

Snoop’s second of three children made the announcement live on ESPN U as the 6feet2 athlete thanked his entire family, including his famous father, for their support before announcing his decision.
Cordell said: ‘I thought it over with my family and I feel that UCLA is the best fit for me,’ as he put on a cap with the University’s crest on it and proudly showed off a UCLA American football jersey with the number 21 emblazoned on it.
It is an interesting decision as the 43-year-old rapper – born Calvin Broadus – has always supported the sports programme of UCLA’s rival school: USC.
Ambitious: The 43-year-old rapper Snoop showed how proud he was of his son by posting several pictures of the announcement on his Instagram page on Wednesday
‘UCLA is the best fit for me’:The 17-year-old appeared on ESPN to make the announcement as his famous father took a picture of the screen
However Snoop was quick to change allegiance as he said: ‘I’m going to back him up a thousand percent so I’m throwing out all my USC drawers all away. I’m going UCLA one-hundred-thousand percent.’
Aside from throwing away his old red and yellow underwear, the rapper said he is proud to watch his son grow up and come to this decision.
Snoop said: ‘It has been awesome, man. Just watching him step into manhood and make a decision that he’s comfortable with so that we can support him as his parents and family members.
Proud papa: Snoop also shared yet another photo on Instagram of his appearance on the sports channel shortly after his son made the announcement
Doting Diddy: The 45-year-old-rapper – born Sean Combs – made an appearance with his now 21-year-old son Justin on BET’s 106 & park just a few weeks after committing to UCLA
‘So we stand by his decision to go to UCLA, so that’s what it is and that’s what we are. We’re Bruins now.’
Coming into National Signing day, Cordell was ranked as the 14th best wide receiver and 130th best high school recruit in the nation by ESPN.
Back in November 2011, 45-year-old Diddy’s son Justin, now 21, announced he was committing to play for the university based in Brentwood, California.
Friendly: The Combs and Broadus kids have a familiarity with each other as Cordell (right) attended the 16th birthday of Diddy’s younger son, Christian (pictured left), at 1OAK in West Hollywood last April
The young man was at the centre of some controversy at the time as according to a June 2012 report from ESPN, some were questioning if he should pass on a $54,000 scholarship due to the wealth of his family.
Ultimately, Justin, who plays defensive back, took the scholarship. He only played four games for them in the 2014 season.
Both Cordelle and Justin will play for head coach Jim Mora next season as the UCLA Bruins will try to take the PAC-12 Conference Title from the defending Oregon Ducks.
Rivals no more: Though Diddy and Snoop were embroiled in the East Coast versus West Coast rivalry of the Nineties, they have shown their friendship in recent years and even performed at the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, Georgia in September 2013 together
