Actress Selena Gomez continues to hold the impressive record for being the number one most followed woman on Instagram as she celebrates her 32nd birthday today
Selena Gomez continues to hold an impressive record as the beloved actress celebrates her 32nd birthday today.
As the Only Murders in the Building star reels in her special day, we’re taking a look at one of her impressive accomplishments as she continues to be the #1 most followed woman on Instagram. The Calm Down hitmaker broke the record on December 20th, 2021 when she surpassed reality star Kylie Jenner with the most followers on the social media platform.
The Kardashians star previously held the title with a whopping 290,683,268 followers but was later super seeded by the former Disney star as she totaled an impressive 381,580,525 followers on Instagram. Now nearly three years later the brunette beauty continues to hold the record and has grown an even larger fanbase as she is now sitting at 425 million followers.
Selena is currently the third most-followed user on Instagram, behind footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. And while some were shocked by this feat, others believed it made perfect sense as she has maintained an unproblematic presence in the public eye and has a relatable, down-to-earth personality.
The account with the highest follower count on the platform is the official verified Instagram profile which has 618 million followers. To commemorate the accomplishment, Selena shared a snap posing in front of a group of her fans with the sweet caption: “Wishing I could hug all 400 million of you.”
