Tim McGraw had a special guest at the Charlotte, N.C. stop of his Brothers of the Sun Tour on Sunday, June 24. After performing alongside wife Faith Hill in Nashville on Saturday, he brought out local boy-done-good Scotty McCreery to sing the second verse of ‘I Like It, I Love It.’ To say that it was met with a resounding applause from the crowd would be putting it mildly.
The minute that McGraw introduced McCreery, with whom he sang ‘Live Like You Were Dying’ in May of 2011 during the teen’s winning season of ‘American Idol,’ the crowd erupted in massive screams. McGraw and McCreery rocked the upbeat song and turned it over to the crowd for a moment to sing the super catchy chorus. Before the song ended, McGraw asked the crowd to “Give it up for my buddy Scotty” — and the fan s happily obliged.
Judging from the reaction, country music fans like it (and love it) when Scotty McCreery makes an impromptu appearance. Sure, he’s a local boy, so that ups the ante, but he’s pretty much a beloved country star at this point. Make that a beloved country star who will start college in the fall too!
Let’s hope McGraw and McCreery team up for a studio duet sometime down the road. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
