Reba McEntire and Rex Linn enjoy a heartfelt night at the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn

The queen of country and her king had a night to remember at the Grand Ole Opry’s centennial celebration!

NBC’s three-hour live event, Opry 100: A Live Celebration, was a dream come true for country music fans—packed with legendary performances and star-studded moments. But for Reba McEntire and her longtime love, Rex Linn, it was also a heartwarming date night—one filled with music, laughter, and even a few tears.

McEntire kicked off the celebration in style, belting out “You Ain’t Woman Enough” and “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia” alongside fellow country queen Trisha Yearwood. After her show-stopping performance, Reba traded the stage for a seat next to Linn in the audience. And if you were watching closely, you probably noticed her getting emotional throughout the night.

A Love Story That Started Long Before 2020

Though McEntire and Linn have known each other for decades, their romance didn’t officially begin until January 2020. Later that year, Reba made their relationship public during a dating-themed episode of her Live & Learning podcast.

“He’s very special … I put myself in his shoes, and I said, ‘If he was doing this podcast [about dating] and he didn’t mention me, I would be crushed,’” she shared.

Shortly after, Linn made things Instagram official, posting an adorable photo of the two and revealing his sweet nickname for Reba: “TATER TOT.” (And in return, she calls him “Sugar Tot.”) Together, they lovingly refer to themselves as “The Tots.”

On-Screen & Off-Screen Chemistry

Beyond being a couple in real life, McEntire and Linn are also co-stars on the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place, which was recently renewed for a second season. The series, set in a cozy Tennessee tavern, features a lovable cast, including Pablo Castelblanco and Tokala Black Elk.

According to their Happy’s Place co-stars, working with “The Tots” is both heartwarming and hilarious.

“They’re so cute that they’re gross,” Escobedo joked. “No, I’m just kidding, but they are like sickeningly sweet… I love seeing them be happy.”

Castelblanco chimed in, admiring their mutual support and different acting styles:

“Rex loves to rehearse the episodes, and Reba’s like… waits a little bit more to see what the final lines are gonna be. It’s cute to watch them balance each other out.”

One thing’s for sure—whether they’re lighting up the Opry stagefilming their sitcom, or just enjoying a night out, McEntire and Linn prove time and again that they’re country music’s cutest couple.

The sweetest duo, indeed!
