Singer Adam Lambert says he is desperate to play Elvis Presley in a new biopic, revealing he often gets compared to the late star.
Appearing on Studio 10 on Tuesday, the new Queen frontman expressed his interest in the latest project, which will be directed by Baz Luhrmann.
Speaking to entertainment reporter Angela Bishop, the 37-year-old said he was interested in the role following the success of Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Striking resemblance: Singer Adam Lambert (L) has revealed he wants to play Elvis Presley in a new biopic directed by Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann during a Studio 10 interview
‘I hear that there’s an Elvis one in the works,’ Adam said, cooing over the chance to play the late Heartbreak Hotel icon.
Angela went on to compare Adam’s hair to The King, prompting the former American Idol favourite to gush over how he has been told that he looks similar to Elvis.
‘I have been compared to him quite a bit,’ he said, adding that he has previously performed Elvis’ back catalog as part of a musical special.
‘I got to do this tribute thing that has a recreation of his comeback special,’ he explained, before turning to the camera and saying ‘audition me, come on.’

‘I know that I have gone through different chapters in that 10 years and have been in different head spaces in different parts of my own personal life,’ Adam said.
‘I feel like now I am more sure of what and who I am and what and who I am not. I know what I am doing, this is me.’
Adam – who has fronted Queen in recent years – opened up earlier this year about his ‘dark period’ and battle with mental health.
He took to Twitter at the time to talk about his plans for his music and to thank fans for support.

Reflecting: ‘I know that I have gone through different chapters in that 10 years and have been in different head spaces in different parts of my own personal life,’ Adam revealed on Saturday
‘Let me offer a most sincere thank you for your patience and continued faith in me,’ he wrote at the time.
‘You’ve pushed me to keep going even when I felt discouraged. I love making and performing music, but there have been many times where I’ve had to compromise on my artistic vision, with executives making decisions based on money and not art.’
He added in part of his post: ‘Don’t get me wrong – I’m very proud of my body of work. But I’m coming out of a dark period of second-guessing my own artistry and having my mental health suffer because of it.

‘I started asking myself, ‘is all this hustle really worth it?’ I put all my focus on my work and started to feel detached in my personal life. My self-worth was suffering. I was lonely and becoming depressed.’
He said that his friends and industry colleagues – and even touring with Queen – helped him overcome his struggles.
He then said he was releasing new music and had a new record label.
Adam – who is currently in Australia promoting his latest single, New Eyes – appeared on American Idol back in 2009, and has since gone on to sell millions of records.
