Trailer Premiere: Colin Jost Hosts Pop Culture Jeopardy!
Colin Jost is a man of many titles: longtime SNL writer, “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Olympics correspondent, and now, Jeopardy! host.
Prime Video has just released the official trailer for Pop Culture Jeopardy!, the Jost-hosted spinoff of the iconic quiz show. The new series, which hails from Sony Pictures Television’s Game Show Division, premieres December 4 on the streamer with three episodes, followed by three new episodes weekly.
“I’m Colin Jost, the host of the brand new Pop Culture Jeopardy!,” Jost introduces himself in the trailer, “the show that reminds us that, without pop culture, there’s just … culture.”
The clip sees Jost present contestants with Gen Z-esque categories like “famous because the internet” and “sad girl summer.” It also includes familiar Jeopardy! elements like the “Daily Double.” Contestants will play in groups of three (81 teams in total) and compete tournament-style for a grand prize of $300,000.
The series was first announced in May at Prime Video’s upfront presentation. Produced by Jeopardy! EP Michael Davis, it’s set to offer a new spin on the classic show’s formula, combining the academic rigor of the original series with the unpredictability and fun of pop culture.
Pop Culture Jeopardy! marks the first time that a Jeopardy! show has been created for a streaming service. The series will anchor a new game show programming block on Prime Video (dubbed “Winning Wednesdays”), which also includes other celebrity-hosted shows like Travis Kelce’s Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?, J.B. Smoove’s Buy It Now, and Nick Cannon’s Wish List Games.
