Rumors claiming Beyoncé lost four million Instagram followers went viral on X, with some suggesting that the supposed drop was due to her and her husband, Jay-Z’s, alleged ties to Sean “Diddy” Combs. However, these claims are false.

Social Blade, a website that provides ‘global analytics for any content creator, live streamer, or brand’ showcases that Beyoncé’s follower count has been dropping gradually since March 2024 and not immediately overnight.

On September 27, X account @PopFlopHQ posted a tweet stating that Beyoncé’s followers fell from 320 million to 316 million. The tweet, which also featured screenshots, had nearly a million views at the time of writing.

Perez Hilton’s official blog and the Culture Colectiva website also shared the aforementioned claims.

“Beyoncé has found herself at the center of a big controversy in recent days after a large number of social media users have flooded her profile, attacking her and linking her to Diddy’s legal troubles and the tragic death of Aaliyah. The result? A massive loss of followers,” Culture Colectivan published.

As the claims have gone viral, it is important to note that they are false. The singer did not lose 4 million Instagram followers overnight.

Beyoncé did not lose followers due to her alleged connection with Diddy

X’s Community Note revealed on the social networking site that Queen Bey’s Instagram followers count had not reduced by four million specifically since Diddy’s arrest. User @obynofranc on X also responded to @PopFlopHQ’s tweet by saying:

“Stop lying. She has had 316M followers since August. Instagram began purging her followers since February (she has been dropping since then). Lmfao.”

If one observes the singer’s follower count through Social Blade, a platform that observes the social media statistics of celebrities and internet sensations, one can note that the Diva hitmaker’s follower count reached 316 million in August.

On August 19, 2024, the singer had a total followers count of 316,914,063. Months ago, on April 5, she had a followers count of 320,028,109. However, the count witnessed a rapid decrease on July 10, 2024.

It is worth noting that there is no proof that the drop in follower count is associated with her links to Diddy. Hence, it is safe to say that the singer is not losing followers in light of her connection with the singer, who has been held without bail as he faces s*x trafficking charges.

Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z was also rumored to have lost millions of followers due to his connection to Diddy; however, X’s community note clarified that the singer’s follower count on Instagram had always remained below 900,000 prior to Diddy’s arrest. Jay-Z had 903,000 followers on the social networking site at the time of writing this article.

It comes as no surprise that many assumed that the loss of followers for Bey was related to Diddy, as both Bey and her husband were allegedly linked to Diddy and his now-infamous “freak off” sessions. Jay-Z was also spotted numerous times with Combs in the past.

Despite not losing followers, Beyoncé’s Instagram comment section has been flooded with comments related to her association with Combs.

Meanwhile, Combs remains behind bars as he awaits his trial date.
