Four years ago, George Strait and Miranda Lambert took the stage together at the 54th Academy Of Country Music Awards to perform Strait’s 2001 hit, “Run.”
Run was written by Anthony Smith and Tony Lane and was released as the lead single from George’s twenty-first studio album, “The Road Less Traveled.” It debuted at at #36 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart and eventually soared to #2, just missing the top spot.
Run is one of my personal favorite songs from The King (then again, I probably say that about 15 of his songs) but hearing fellow Texas native, Miranda Lambert, singing alongside George gave the song new life.
On the same award show in 2019, George also performed his, at the time, latest single “God & Country Music” and there’s just something ’bout watching him command the stage, singing about saving the genre and showin’ every new Country singer how it’s done.
Check out both performances, below.
